In a podiatry clinic, it is common to receive patients who present with non-specific pain, accompanied by inflammation in the first toe without having received any blow.

We can never rule out that it is gout, a type of arthritis. This pathology develops when uric acid accumulates in the blood and causes inflammation in the joints.
We may encounter episodes of acute gout, a painful condition that typically affects only one joint, or chronic gout refers to repetitive episodes of pain and inflammation.

The most effective initial treatment is with specific anti-inflammatories and reducing foods from our diet that cause urate crystals to accumulate in the joints.
An early diagnosis is essential to avoid a drastic worsening of this pathology since it is very easy to be confused with other ailments.
